Kids in Prison

Before you realize it's all already too cold,
You are still young when you start to get old
And you wonder,
Why you were never told

As their souls fade away,
Caught in the conflict, of being the hunter or the prey,
Usually hiding in the placebo of faith, dream of love and a good God above,
Kneel down in submission and despair and pray,
But only silence and ghosts will stay

Under the spell of compulsory education,
Carrying the weight of all your ancestors,
Screwed up genetics, and all the distortion passed through to you,
So you hide on apps and Playstation,
To forget about the awful situation,
Just like I used to hide on Genesis and MTV,
So you will have something better than yourself to see,
Pale medication

Season after season,
Generation after generation,
It's always the same, born in condemnation,
No matter the place, from the womb to the tomb
Of life and all it's disgrace, unavoidable fate, just a stupid mistake,
No matter the decade or the nation,
Always the same situation
Season after season,
All kids are in prison
For no reason

And we all keep on falling,
Forever, the whole thing is a fall,
We only find something after we lose it all,
And we are all still just kids, after all
We remain in prison,
Season after season,
For no reason
For no reason at all
